Terms of service

Last updated: March 2026

These terms govern your use of StrathNode, a managed web hosting service operated by StrathWorks Ltd, registered in Scotland (SC880795). By creating an account and subscribing to a plan, you agree to these terms.

The service

StrathNode provides managed web hosting on a monthly subscription basis. Each plan includes a hosting account on UK & EU infrastructure, access to the StrathNode client portal, and Stripe-based billing. The specific resources included (storage, domain count, support level) are defined on the pricing page and may be updated with reasonable notice.

Account registration

You must provide accurate registration information including a valid email address and a domain you have the right to host. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must not share your account or allow others to access the service using your credentials. You must be 18 or over to create an account.

Billing and payment

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Payment is taken on the date your account is created and on the same date in each subsequent month. If a payment fails, we will notify you and attempt to collect payment again. Continued non-payment may result in service suspension.

All prices are stated in pounds sterling (£) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to revise pricing with at least 30 days' notice. If you do not accept a price change, you may cancel before the change takes effect.

Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal in the client area. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — your account remains accessible until that date. No refunds are issued for unused time within a billing period. There are no cancellation fees.

Acceptable use

You may use StrathNode to host lawful websites and web applications. You must not use the service to:

  • Host, distribute, or facilitate illegal content of any kind
  • Send unsolicited bulk email (spam) or operate spam-related services
  • Conduct network attacks, port scanning, or denial-of-service activities against any target
  • Host malware, phishing pages, or content designed to deceive or defraud
  • Mine cryptocurrency or operate resource-intensive automated processes not typical of a website
  • Resell or sublicence StrathNode services to third parties without written agreement

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts found to be in breach of these terms without refund.

Service availability

We aim to maintain high availability for all hosted accounts, but we do not guarantee a specific uptime percentage. Scheduled maintenance will be carried out with reasonable advance notice where practical. We are not liable for losses arising from unplanned outages, provided we take reasonable steps to restore service promptly.

Backups

We perform automated daily backups as part of the managed service. Backups are provided as a courtesy and should not be treated as a substitute for your own backup arrangements. We will make reasonable efforts to assist with restoration but do not guarantee that any specific backup will be available or restorable.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StrathWorks Ltd's liability to you in connection with StrathNode is limited to the total amount you have paid for the service in the three months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic losses including loss of business, profit, or data.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Intellectual property

You retain ownership of all content you upload to your hosting account. You grant StrathWorks Ltd the limited right to store and serve that content as part of providing the hosting service. StrathNode, its software, branding, and documentation remain the property of StrathWorks Ltd.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will provide at least 14 days' notice of material changes by email to the address on your account. Continued use of the service after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not accept the changes, you may cancel your account before they take effect.
