The service

What does "managed hosting" actually include?

Managed hosting means StrathWorks handles the server infrastructure, operating system, software stack, and daily backups on your behalf. You get a hosting account with full control over your domain — without needing to configure or maintain anything at the server level. If something goes wrong at the infrastructure layer, we deal with it. Routine account tasks like password resets, mailbox changes, and billing are handled by you through the client portal.

What control panel do I get?

Accounts are backed by Virtualmin. You can access the Virtualmin control panel directly from the StrathNode client portal using a one-click login link — no separate credentials required. From there you can manage files, databases, DNS, SSL, and more.

How do I manage email?

Each hosting account supports mailboxes on your domain. You can create mailboxes, reset passwords, and access webmail directly from the StrathNode client portal. No need to go into Virtualmin for day-to-day mailbox management.

What PHP versions are supported?

Virtualmin supports multiple PHP versions. If you need a specific version, get in touch and we'll confirm availability for your account and configure it accordingly.

Do you include daily backups?

Yes — automated daily backups are included on every plan. If you need to restore a backup, contact us and we'll assist. Premium and Premium Plus plans include restore assistance as standard; Standard plan customers can request restoration and we'll help where we can.

Do you handle domain registration?

Not currently. You'll need to register your domain with a separate registrar (such as Cloudflare, Namecheap, or 123-reg) and point the DNS records to StrathNode. If you need guidance on the DNS setup, get in touch and we'll walk you through it.

Accounts & billing

How does setup work?

Sign up, choose your plan, and you'll be redirected to Stripe checkout. Once payment is confirmed, your hosting account is provisioned automatically. You'll receive a welcome email with your hosting credentials, and the client portal will show your domain, username, and server details. The whole process typically completes within a few minutes of payment.

Is there a setup fee or contract?

No setup fees and no contracts. You pay monthly from the date your account is created. Cancel any time and your account stays active until the end of the billing period.

Can I migrate an existing website?

Yes. If you're moving from another host, contact us before or after creating your account and we can assist with the migration process. You'll need to point your domain's DNS to StrathNode once your account is active — we'll tell you exactly what records to set.

How do I cancel?

Open the client portal, go to billing, and use the Stripe billing portal to cancel your subscription. Your account remains active until the end of the current paid period. No cancellation fees apply.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Plan changes can be requested by contacting us. We'll handle the Stripe subscription change and update your hosting account to the corresponding Virtualmin package. Self-service plan changes through the portal are on our roadmap.

Who do I contact for support?

Use the contact form. You're reaching the team that actually runs the service — not a shared helpdesk. We aim to respond within one business day. For urgent hosting issues, mention it in the subject line and we'll prioritise accordingly.
